If I Hold My Peace

A meeting on the Taming of the Tongue made a great impact on me and I immediately could see myself in those words taught.

Back in the 1980s, I and my family had attended several Churches for a number of years.

Being in the military, we moved quite often, so this particular Church I speak of I was there over three years.

I had served three Churches prior to being licensed and ordained into the ministry.  The third Church I and my family attended was a very pivotal Church in my growth and releasing me into the leadership in that particular Church.

I attended as many meetings as I could and usually was involved five days a week in various groups and was used in prayer meetings, women’s meetings, teaching, prophesying, and putting it strongly, I was involved!

I was so hungry for God and hungry to learn all I could absorb.  I remember being in a ladies’ meeting on Wednesday and the subject that was taught was, The Taming of the Tongue.

That meeting made a great impact on me and I immediately could see myself in those words so I decided that a fast was in order.

In my desperation to get control of my tongue, I started a fast for as long as it would take.  I know this may sound funny to some, but in taking control of my tongue I put duct tape on my mouth and kept it there until after five p.m. when my husband got home.

However, I continued fasting, keeping my tongue under control for two whole weeks.  I only spoke after five p.m. if absolutely necessary and of course in taking care and guiding my small children.

I had so many phone calls I could not answer, and my husband at the time was continuing to berate me and harass me continually about anything and everything, but in all of this, I refrained from retaliation and took it in silence.

In prayer, I asked God to help me.  I was so serious about learning how to hold my peace so I continued, but it wasn’t easy at all.  It was so hard!  I felt so abused and beaten down inside, and weary with all the accusations and harassment of my husband.

The second Sunday in the two weeks fast I, my husband, and three children were getting ready for Church when all hell was in my house.

My husband ranted and raved like a possessed man against me.  I held my tongue and peace.  On our way to Church, I held on to God with all my heart and refrained from reacting to his curses, abuse, and harassment.

When we finally arrived, we took our seats and I was so beaten down that I couldn’t even praise The LORD.  I sat before The LORD and just wept.

On our way home, he was still harassing me and belittling me, making me feel so bad and all I could do was cry and talk to God to help me.

Once we got home and I changed clothes, I went to prepare our lunch while he continued to provoke me.

But on this day I could feel anger building up inside me.  I couldn’t worship God at Church nor have peace in my home and I felt like my nerves and reserves were swiftly going away.

Well, he said all sorts of ugly things and criticized what I fixed for lunch and then I lost it!  It was like I was a cornered animal that lashes out.

I thrashed out big time, calling him all sorts of names and words I won’t say.  I promptly left for my bedroom, but as I went I knew I had sinned, as the scripture came to my mind, “let not the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil.”

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil,”   Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV.

Well, as I laid on my bed upset, I knew where that scripture was, so I turned to another part of the Bible to avoid it, because I didn’t want to hear that scripture, nor read it.

But then my eyes landed on another passage of scripture as I laid upon my bed crying.

“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.  Selah,”   Psalm 4:4 KJV.

As I laid there not wanting to hear it, I asked God why is was that I had to be strong, while he gets away with everything!   It was all about my rights!

But what we need is God’s rights and His right way!

All I could hear was that I needed to go to him and ask for forgiveness and do it that night.  Well, I rebelled and I hung on to that anger I had towards him that night.

When I woke up on Monday morning for prayer at 5 a.m., I began to pray and The Holy Spirit immediately told me, “I will not talk to you until you ask for his forgiveness.”

I always hunger to hear God’s voice and I had to hear now.  So there was no option, I had to obey because I had to hear The LORD!

As my husband was getting ready for work, he was stomping through the house in a demonic fury.  When he stomped into the kitchen I could feel his anger, but I yielded to The Holy Spirit and said to him, “I am sorry for all I said.”

Then he promptly told me, “You should be!”  I gritted my teeth not to speak and said to The LORD, okay I did what you said, now it’s your turn.

As my husband stomped through the house in anger and prepared to leave for work, The Holy Spirit told me, “His truck won’t start, and your car won’t start either.”

I sat on the couch and listened as he walked out the door.  Sure enough, his truck would not start, then he left the truck and attempted to take my car and it wouldn’t start either.

As he walked back in the house, he looked bewildered and told me his truck would not start either, neither would my car.  I told him I know.  In shock he said how did you know?

I told him what The Holy Spirit said and that he needed to deal with these issues and repent before God.  In shock, he sat down across from me in a chair and closed his eyes.

While he was silent and I sat and prayed, the anointing came strong on my left hand — like lightning — and The Holy Spirit said, “Tell your husband to stand up in the middle of the room, put his hands up in surrender to Me — then you are to put this hand on his head.”

This was a hard thing to say, because of his strong pride and I resisted for some moments.

I had to obey because The Holy Spirit was so strong on me.  I told him what The Holy Spirit said and shockingly, he willingly and immediately stood up in the middle of the room and he put his arms up and stood there with his eyes closed.

Then I got up and laid my hand on his head and immediately he fell backward and was out on the living room floor!

He was out for a long time.  When he finally was able to get up, the devil was defeated and there was peace between us and his attitude totally changed.

What a revelation that was to me and that experience has forever branded my heart!

It is so true, we must forgive speedily so that God can work for us.  Many times, we don’t realize how we hinder our own prayers by getting in God’s way and we cancel out our words and curse our own lives because we fight our own battles.

I learned a valuable lesson when I hold my peace and let The LORD fight my battles, victory shall be won.

We must learn to get out of the way.

I heard something I never ever heard before, The Holy Spirit said, “Unless you forgive him, release him and let him go, I cannot work in your situations for your good.  And because you fight your own battles, it ties my hands to fight for you.”

Well, at times I am reminded of this experience at how The LORD “vindicated” me when I chose to do it God’s way.

It will work for you too if you work it, and God will turn everything around for your good because you love God and are called according to his purpose.  Amen?  Amen!

“Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh,”
   James 3:3-12 KJV.

“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain,”   James 1:26 KJV.

Going Around in Circles – Pt.2

I have wondered how many of us have ever felt like we’re running in circles, like a cat or dog chasing its own tail?

I have wondered how many of us have ever felt like we’re running in circles, like a cat or dog chasing its own tail?

Another illustration comes to mind; how many of us run “like” the hamsters’ wheel while in the cage; bound to its circumstances and limitations going nowhere.

How many of us spend enormous amounts of time and energy doing something, but we end up achieving nothing?

In prayer, I saw myself looking out of a car window in a relatively fast-moving vehicle.  In this vision, I was focusing on the right-side window.

I knew there were trees, sky, and colors, but my focus through the window was a blur to me.  I knew that many things were happening all at the same time as a person perceived their space differently compared to mine.

As the other passengers and the driver of the vehicle were looking ahead and talking and laughing although I couldn’t make out their words.  But in short, there were so many situations happening all at the same time in that vehicle.

I had a greater awareness of the Spirit and my surroundings that I had never realized.

The vehicle in this vision represents a ministry, the other passengers were talking and enjoying time together as we were moving in the midst of many things in our busy lives.

Sometimes we fail to comprehend that when we are too close to something we are involved in; it is like the old saying, we are too close to the forest to see the trees.”

Sometimes we need to stand back and reflect on our thoughts and actions and why we do what we do.

How much more does The LORD have in store for us!  In His desire, he delights when His children wonder in amazement and remain star eyed in innocence as our whole being clings to our childlike delights with our Creator, Abba.

Learning and having a greater awareness of His presence is a joy unspeakable and full of glory, were but hard to be uttered.

Abba God takes great delight in enjoying His children and lingers in their pure love for Him realizing that they chose Him not by coercion or fear but by their own free choice and will!

Love conquers, love breaks down walls, love shatters the wounds to get to the heart of a child within each of us.  Abba will move heaven, earth, and hell out of the way for His beloved children. His desire is that we come to know His amazing love as He is known.

God is love and everyone that truly loves is born of God and knows God.  In our limited understanding and existence, it is hard to fathom why the creator of the universe and beyond, would want to be bothered with such wayward children.

When we come to understand the simplicity of His love and how He made and designed us individually in His image, it is truly amazing.

Father God so desired that we would choose to know His love and to know the secret of simplicity in His sight.  When we know we are loved by the ultimate, Abba Father, there’s no need for competition, no need to vie for His attention, thinking that one gets more attention than the other.

There is no jealousy, envy, strife, contention, or division; for we all can access him as His children at any time.

In His eye and hand, we are secure. In knowing that He created us for His pleasure and purpose, we have a divine family!

He lovingly makes us understand that we are not misfits anymore!  No one else can fit the place He has for us, but us!  His plan was Love; simple as that.

The simplicity of Christ was twisted by that twisted spirit Satan that fueled the thoughts that we serve a God that deceives us and works us like a taskmaster and that we can never please. With our offering as children, we are simple.

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ,”   2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV.

There are no measurements to a child for we are forever amazed and humbled to wonderment as to why such majesty would want to know me?  And you?

He didn’t want or desire beings that had to perform for acceptance, nor were we perfected to amuse him.  He isn’t impressed with the wisdom of this age when He is the ancient of days!

For unless we become as children we will not enter The Kingdom of Heaven.

However, we are learning to lean on Jesus more.  Learning to depend as a little child would with Jesus.  This positioning causes us to become strong against the enemy because of the weightiness of His Glory of resistance!

It is not we who live, but Christ in us the hope of Glory!

We have found opposition has actually pushed us closer to The LORD in intimacy and fiery fervency!

We are the temples of The LORD our God and He fills us ‘the temple’ with His glory so that the fullness of His presence resonates.

Satan does not go after people who are NOT a threat to his agenda.  He goes after those who shall make a difference in this world with God.  Your greatest moments in God come on the heels of great tests and trials.

So, we will be one as He and the Father are one.  The goal of unity in the church is an awesome feat!

However, we all in the body of Christ must find our place and purpose so we all can function within the fullness of the Godhead bodily, with His goodness and favor.

Everyone has a purpose!  But we each must find our own path and way to obedience to the faith and by picking up our cross and following Him.

Oh, how HE loves us beloved of God!

“And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.  For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.  As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus The LORD, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.  For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power,”   Colossians 2:4-10 KJV.

Will You Go Around in Circles?

I have wondered how many of us have ever felt like we’re running in circles, like a cat or dog chasing its own tail?

Part 1

Since early this morning, I kept hearing a song in my head from way back in 1972 when I was twelve years old.

The part of the lyrics I heard was, “Will you go around in circles?  Will you fly high like a bird up in the sky?”   (See “Will it go round in circles” Lyrics and song by Billy Preston)

I find in my own experience that when God is trying to make a point to me, He gets my attention often with music.

Music can tend to help us remember things; at least for me anyway.

As I heard those lyrics go over and over in my mind, suddenly in the Spirit I saw an Eagle, rising up and free from the circle of the earth restrictions and it was mounting up higher than I have ever had seen or fathomed!

I beheld circles of obstacles that many of God’s people were bound to. I could see the frustration, hindrances, and the tortured minds having gone in circles for so long and never able to get free!

On the earth, this Eagle finally broke free and mounted up so effortlessly!  Then the eagle soared moving with the wind currents as it flowed in the varied atmospheric pressures.

As I beheld this vision, I heard,  “Beloved, even the very winds obey and will come to your aid and rescue you as they obey Me, says The LORD.”

Study Isaiah 40 beloved!

“It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in,”   Isaiah 40:22 KJV.

No one on ground level could see what was up ahead, as there were so many distractions and unplanned events that were waged and planned by the enemy’s conspiracy to distract and hinder the Army of God.

From those higher places above, the Eagle carried super-smart ability to pinpoint and make out the name of specific targets in many places.

The eagle could see the distance involved on all fronts.  The specifics were discerned by the eagles trained eye and its ability to see the strategy that had been set in motion by the enemy!

The LORD wants to encourage you beloved!  Although we cannot see everything or hear, or feel anything, God still has a plan for each of us.

When things continue to come in up like a flood, God has proven to us that HE will raise up a standard against the enemy!

Beloved, we are that standard God is raising up!  You are part of HIS end-time plan and your Spiritual DNA and path are already laid out for your life!

For some, you have wondered why it has taken so long and issues so frequent that have weakened you.

Many of you have questioned as to why you must go through such adversity.  Some of you have questioned the validity of your very own salvation.

Our part and our responsibility through all this adversity are to remember who we are in Christ and to keep our heart and mind stayed on The LORD.  We were created for such a time as this, and we have what it takes in this end-time Army!

We must learn to pray in the Spirit everywhere we go taking dominion over each locale we go through.

Yes, you have jobs, responsibilities, along with many hindrances, and distractions, but beloved, God has factored in all these things!

God isn’t a taskmaster!  He doesn’t reveal things for you to do without giving you the time and equipment.

You will not or have not missed a beat in your due season!  Be encouraged beloved of God!

Deep to Deeper Still

I saw a tall old-fashioned oil derrick and drill at work.  Plans had been made as to where they thought they would strike oil.

I saw a tall old-fashioned oil derrick and drill at work.  Plans had been made as to where they thought they would strike oil.

Then in this vision, I saw as they diligently drilled, suddenly a blowout gusher of oil broke through and a wild well emerged, the oil shooting high into the sky!

Spiritually, many of us are like that drilling process — we are seeking God with all our heart and we feel like we should keep drilling and pressing in so strongly.

But it seems like we keep hitting an empty well or wall!  Or it just seems too deep, and we get discouraged and just want to be content with the little experience, when God wants us to have everything He has for us!

However, we must understand that The LORD knows what He made us to be, and knows how we need to be equipped.

No matter how old we are in The LORD, we will always need to go deeper still.  In God, there is no retirement, there are always new realms and horizons to amaze us!

As we continue to drill in prayer and press towards God, He delights in our desperation and desire for He is our betrothed.

His desire is towards us, and He loves us when we desire Him.

“Blessed are they which hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled,”   Matthew 5:6.

Because you feel a strike is imminent, it also opens doors for us to experience more of His mighty power and His wonders to perform!

The LORD desires our time and our hunger towards Him, and He will reward those who diligently seek Him.

Sometimes we must return to our first love, because the cares of this life have kept us bound to circumstance and situations, (Revelation 2:4).

Our first Holy Spirit baptism was awesome, but now you are craving The LORD so much more!

God knows you need to be equipped and dripping in oil so you can ignite into flames of fire!

When we become desperate we drive our focus totally on The LORD for we need a deeper well of experience and a deeper desire to be immersed totally in the oil of the Holy Ghost!

Oil is the precursor of Fire!  He makes His angels spirits and His ministers flames of fire,  (Hebrews 1:7)

Deep will always call us to deeper still.  Selah…
