If I Hold My Peace

A meeting on the Taming of the Tongue made a great impact on me and I immediately could see myself in those words taught.

Back in the 1980s, I and my family had attended several Churches for a number of years.

Being in the military, we moved quite often, so this particular Church I speak of I was there over three years.

I had served three Churches prior to being licensed and ordained into the ministry.  The third Church I and my family attended was a very pivotal Church in my growth and releasing me into the leadership in that particular Church.

I attended as many meetings as I could and usually was involved five days a week in various groups and was used in prayer meetings, women’s meetings, teaching, prophesying, and putting it strongly, I was involved!

I was so hungry for God and hungry to learn all I could absorb.  I remember being in a ladies’ meeting on Wednesday and the subject that was taught was, The Taming of the Tongue.

That meeting made a great impact on me and I immediately could see myself in those words so I decided that a fast was in order.

In my desperation to get control of my tongue, I started a fast for as long as it would take.  I know this may sound funny to some, but in taking control of my tongue I put duct tape on my mouth and kept it there until after five p.m. when my husband got home.

However, I continued fasting, keeping my tongue under control for two whole weeks.  I only spoke after five p.m. if absolutely necessary and of course in taking care and guiding my small children.

I had so many phone calls I could not answer, and my husband at the time was continuing to berate me and harass me continually about anything and everything, but in all of this, I refrained from retaliation and took it in silence.

In prayer, I asked God to help me.  I was so serious about learning how to hold my peace so I continued, but it wasn’t easy at all.  It was so hard!  I felt so abused and beaten down inside, and weary with all the accusations and harassment of my husband.

The second Sunday in the two weeks fast I, my husband, and three children were getting ready for Church when all hell was in my house.

My husband ranted and raved like a possessed man against me.  I held my tongue and peace.  On our way to Church, I held on to God with all my heart and refrained from reacting to his curses, abuse, and harassment.

When we finally arrived, we took our seats and I was so beaten down that I couldn’t even praise The LORD.  I sat before The LORD and just wept.

On our way home, he was still harassing me and belittling me, making me feel so bad and all I could do was cry and talk to God to help me.

Once we got home and I changed clothes, I went to prepare our lunch while he continued to provoke me.

But on this day I could feel anger building up inside me.  I couldn’t worship God at Church nor have peace in my home and I felt like my nerves and reserves were swiftly going away.

Well, he said all sorts of ugly things and criticized what I fixed for lunch and then I lost it!  It was like I was a cornered animal that lashes out.

I thrashed out big time, calling him all sorts of names and words I won’t say.  I promptly left for my bedroom, but as I went I knew I had sinned, as the scripture came to my mind, “let not the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil.”

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil,”   Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV.

Well, as I laid on my bed upset, I knew where that scripture was, so I turned to another part of the Bible to avoid it, because I didn’t want to hear that scripture, nor read it.

But then my eyes landed on another passage of scripture as I laid upon my bed crying.

“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.  Selah,”   Psalm 4:4 KJV.

As I laid there not wanting to hear it, I asked God why is was that I had to be strong, while he gets away with everything!   It was all about my rights!

But what we need is God’s rights and His right way!

All I could hear was that I needed to go to him and ask for forgiveness and do it that night.  Well, I rebelled and I hung on to that anger I had towards him that night.

When I woke up on Monday morning for prayer at 5 a.m., I began to pray and The Holy Spirit immediately told me, “I will not talk to you until you ask for his forgiveness.”

I always hunger to hear God’s voice and I had to hear now.  So there was no option, I had to obey because I had to hear The LORD!

As my husband was getting ready for work, he was stomping through the house in a demonic fury.  When he stomped into the kitchen I could feel his anger, but I yielded to The Holy Spirit and said to him, “I am sorry for all I said.”

Then he promptly told me, “You should be!”  I gritted my teeth not to speak and said to The LORD, okay I did what you said, now it’s your turn.

As my husband stomped through the house in anger and prepared to leave for work, The Holy Spirit told me, “His truck won’t start, and your car won’t start either.”

I sat on the couch and listened as he walked out the door.  Sure enough, his truck would not start, then he left the truck and attempted to take my car and it wouldn’t start either.

As he walked back in the house, he looked bewildered and told me his truck would not start either, neither would my car.  I told him I know.  In shock he said how did you know?

I told him what The Holy Spirit said and that he needed to deal with these issues and repent before God.  In shock, he sat down across from me in a chair and closed his eyes.

While he was silent and I sat and prayed, the anointing came strong on my left hand — like lightning — and The Holy Spirit said, “Tell your husband to stand up in the middle of the room, put his hands up in surrender to Me — then you are to put this hand on his head.”

This was a hard thing to say, because of his strong pride and I resisted for some moments.

I had to obey because The Holy Spirit was so strong on me.  I told him what The Holy Spirit said and shockingly, he willingly and immediately stood up in the middle of the room and he put his arms up and stood there with his eyes closed.

Then I got up and laid my hand on his head and immediately he fell backward and was out on the living room floor!

He was out for a long time.  When he finally was able to get up, the devil was defeated and there was peace between us and his attitude totally changed.

What a revelation that was to me and that experience has forever branded my heart!

It is so true, we must forgive speedily so that God can work for us.  Many times, we don’t realize how we hinder our own prayers by getting in God’s way and we cancel out our words and curse our own lives because we fight our own battles.

I learned a valuable lesson when I hold my peace and let The LORD fight my battles, victory shall be won.

We must learn to get out of the way.

I heard something I never ever heard before, The Holy Spirit said, “Unless you forgive him, release him and let him go, I cannot work in your situations for your good.  And because you fight your own battles, it ties my hands to fight for you.”

Well, at times I am reminded of this experience at how The LORD “vindicated” me when I chose to do it God’s way.

It will work for you too if you work it, and God will turn everything around for your good because you love God and are called according to his purpose.  Amen?  Amen!

“Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: but the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh,”
   James 3:3-12 KJV.

“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain,”   James 1:26 KJV.

Tried by the Word

We have found opposition has actually pushed us closer to The LORD in desperation, in intimacy, and in fiery fervency!

We are learning and becoming strong against the enemy, because of the weights of resistance!

We have found opposition has actually pushed us closer to The LORD in desperation, in intimacy, and in fiery fervency!

Satan plots and schemes after a person whose destiny is a major challenge to his agenda.  Beloved, remember God is aware of all of it and allows it.

Satan goes after those that are a threat to his agenda.  He goes after those who shall make a difference in this world for The Kingdom of God.

Your greatest moments in God will come on the heels of greatest tests and trials.

You are not alone and God is aware of all things happening in your life!  Remember, you are that STANDARD against the enemy that God is raising up.

This is your destiny coming to pass beloved!  Just your presence intimidates the devil and his demons as they run in terror when you carry God’s presence!

Satan does anything and everything to keep you from your close walk with God in intimacy and prayer.  He sends distractions and hindrances, even necessary things you have to do.

We must learn to take time not make time with God.  Taking time is to aggressively go after where our loyalty lies in God.

When we make time, many issues arise that must be dealt with, but taking that time is stating to God and others that you have had enough!

Enough is enough we are taking back our time and dominion!  I can see through these great trials how The LORD is opening our understanding to deeper and greater heights.

I heard this, that The LORD doesn’t want His People to be afraid or dismayed, even through all their distractions and unplanned and necessary events.

The LORD is still on His throne and he is watching you through it all beloved. He also has many angels watching over you and they are helping you.

The LORD wants you to know that HE is with you even through the many distractions and events divinely inspired by the enemy to keep you offline, off base, and to make you feel so vulnerable since you had to attend those various events in this life.

Before the promise and vision of your destiny shall manifest, you shall be severally tested depending on the weight of authority you shall carry.

When He raises you up to walk in places of leadership in the body you shall not be prideful or full of selfish ambitions but through these events of suffering, you shall be humble, broken, and lowly of heart.

The word of destiny over your life has tried you preparing you to carry greater humility in leading the way.  It was all to prepare you to walk in the responsibility over The LORD’s substance and to walk in his character.

Once the time comes, you shall be released and free to serve The LORD as His ambassador.  He will cause you to triumph over the enemy and lead you to help His people and the nation that bound you with fetters.

You shall see the favor of The LORD as you are released in his strength with great humility as all your suffering was preparing you for position.

Just as Joseph went for years to carry a nation within His belly, he had to suffer.  God’s wisdom made him great and qualified him to rule and reign over all his house.

It is the same for you; Your suffering has prepared you and God’s wisdom shall make you great and you shall see before you an open door, focus above and keep your heart pure and stayed on God he will reward them that diligently seek him.

“Seek The LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore,”   Psalms 105:4 KJV.

“Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.  He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: the word of The LORD tried him.  The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance: to bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom,”   Psalm 105:16-22 KJV.

Deep to Deeper Still

I saw a tall old-fashioned oil derrick and drill at work.  Plans had been made as to where they thought they would strike oil.

I saw a tall old-fashioned oil derrick and drill at work.  Plans had been made as to where they thought they would strike oil.

Then in this vision, I saw as they diligently drilled, suddenly a blowout gusher of oil broke through and a wild well emerged, the oil shooting high into the sky!

Spiritually, many of us are like that drilling process — we are seeking God with all our heart and we feel like we should keep drilling and pressing in so strongly.

But it seems like we keep hitting an empty well or wall!  Or it just seems too deep, and we get discouraged and just want to be content with the little experience, when God wants us to have everything He has for us!

However, we must understand that The LORD knows what He made us to be, and knows how we need to be equipped.

No matter how old we are in The LORD, we will always need to go deeper still.  In God, there is no retirement, there are always new realms and horizons to amaze us!

As we continue to drill in prayer and press towards God, He delights in our desperation and desire for He is our betrothed.

His desire is towards us, and He loves us when we desire Him.

“Blessed are they which hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled,”   Matthew 5:6.

Because you feel a strike is imminent, it also opens doors for us to experience more of His mighty power and His wonders to perform!

The LORD desires our time and our hunger towards Him, and He will reward those who diligently seek Him.

Sometimes we must return to our first love, because the cares of this life have kept us bound to circumstance and situations, (Revelation 2:4).

Our first Holy Spirit baptism was awesome, but now you are craving The LORD so much more!

God knows you need to be equipped and dripping in oil so you can ignite into flames of fire!

When we become desperate we drive our focus totally on The LORD for we need a deeper well of experience and a deeper desire to be immersed totally in the oil of the Holy Ghost!

Oil is the precursor of Fire!  He makes His angels spirits and His ministers flames of fire,  (Hebrews 1:7)

Deep will always call us to deeper still.  Selah…

Pull Back, Back Up!

Up and coming leaders, listen!  The Fruit of The Spirit is not an option.  Having a godly character is the witness of The Spirit of an individual.

Spiritual Maturity and jealousy cannot mix!

Up and coming leaders, listen!  The Fruit of The Spirit is not an option.  Having a godly character is the witness of The Spirit of an individual.

Having to stand strong on a point when everyone calls you goody two shoes or false, takes clear resolve.  But these who lack maturity don’t understand at all.

It is the mature whom God draws the reins back that remain separate and not become one of the boys or the popular groups that want you to agree with everything they say.  “Come aside and be ye separate,” says The LORD.

King Jehoshaphat although he was a good King, got into trouble by making Alliances with wicked Kings.  But God in His mercy kept him safe, but his alignment to other wicked kings made him guilty as they were and cost him consequences to his decisions,  (2 Chronicles 18).

King Jehoshaphat was trying to be good, accepting and he assumed, causing to lose ground, costly events, and lost lives.  It is very important who we ally with and what we stay clear of.

Although King Jehoshaphat was personally loyal to his faith and purity of life and motive, his greatest failures lay in the precise areas of his greatest success; International relations and religious reformations.

He could not root out the unlawful. His diplomacy by alliance into intermarriage with the house of Ahab and Jezebel brought all his gains to ruin within a few years of his death.

The poisonous effect of that union became an arrangement that was very expensive to Judah; the king supported with treasure and manpower to fund Ahab’s wars.

The king assisted in at least two fruitless campaigns with the kings of Israel.  He suffered personal physical peril and spiritual loss to himself and his kingdom.

“Hear the word of The LORD!  Corrupt alliances by deceit come to prostitute and ride on your anointing.

To prostitute your oil and wine they gain victory and prestige.  Their numbers are great, they love a crowd.  They corrupt your goodness by flattery.  They take advantage of their own personal gain.

As I live,” says God, “I tell you the truth, I wouldn’t even look the way of these corrupt flatterers, but because I honor your life, I will speak and warn you!”

We are known by the company we keep.  Birds of a feather DO flock together.  What we come under can be a big problem, but thank God in his mercy he leads us.

Get a grip!  Most will judge you for standing back and waiting on clarity.

God must pull back prophets to back up prophets.

These prophets speak the mind of God to make decisions between God and the people.  These cannot be conformed or led away from The LORD’s heart.  They were sent in by God to announce God’s will and to confront evil.

Those who intimidate you will continue to provoke you to do it their way. I t takes a solid person to remain on task in not becoming one of the popular people as we all like to be accepted but we cannot go after that or we will face some very hard consequences.

Spirits of religion, controlling, manipulation, jealousy, strife, contention breed every evil work!

Pride will cause people to provoke you to lead you off the right path with God.  Their motives are veiled, not clear as many are not operating in the right Spirit.

Jealousy is usually the open door, and jealousy is as cruel as the grave!  Their veiled motives are to win you over to their side, but The LORD will separate those of His that search him out.

Like John the Baptist, Elijah, Micaiah, and other prophets did in the Bible, God will back up his prophets.

In many instances the church is not ready for these types of prophets that are coming on the scene, but ready or not they are coming!

Study 2 Chronicles 18 and Revelation 2.
